About the Opportunity

Negociants Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Retail and On Premise Territory Manager (Wine Distribution) to join their Melbourne team, servicing the Western suburbs, including Flemington, West Melbourne, Yarraville, Williamstown, Newport and Seddon, Geelong and the Great Ocean Road.

Reporting to the Victorian Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for the continued growth and profitability of your sales territory through the management of an existing client portfolio and growth of key accounts through developing effective business relationships with key decision makers throughout your area. You will also manage existing accounts and drive new business growth within the retail channel.

This is an On and Off-premise role, with your field based area covering a broad metropolitan territory with regular regional coverage of the Geelong/Great Ocean Road territory.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing an existing customer base;
  • Prospecting and developing new business relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Using your commercial acumen to drive area growth and profitability;
  • Conducting consumer tasting and staff education;
  • Territory and call cycle planning;
  • Brand and product promotion including conducting trade and consumer tastings, display merchandising and handling stock orders and enquiries; and
  • Identifying and implementing promotional opportunities and managing trade activation.

Negociants Australia is looking for a team player with an understanding of the domestic and imported wine industry. Candidates with a background in sales and/or retail will be well-regarded. 

The ability to thoroughly comprehend customers' businesses is important and demonstrated excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential for your success in this position. Maintaining your key accounts, you'll be required to employ a strategic and "big picture" approach as you grow your accounts with a long term view in mind.

Your ability to build strong relationships at the trade level as well as your ability to develop a strong sales call cycle and sales plan for your accounts will see you succeed in this rare and exciting opportunity.

Intermediate computer literacy is highly desirable as is the experience with, or the ability to quickly learn how to use, CRM software, Salesforce in particular.
